Small Talk of the Day n Recommended Website

This morning was eventful. I went to AMK area to distribute promotion flyers for STS. On my way, I saw an elderly auntie walking a beige puppy. Personally, I like dogs and struck a conversation with her about the puppy. I thought it was her dog until she told me it was her grandson's. WOW! Looks like this country's senior citizens are always preoccupied with things to do. I saw that the sky was overcast and I quickly went to the void deck to take shelter. Thankful that I always carry an umbrella around and continued with the work. Reading Comprehension Tips

It is important to remember that different types of materials are read at different speeds. A novel is faster reading than a textbook. Time yourself at the beginning of a semester after reading one chapter of your textbook. That will give you an idea of how long you need to plan to study throughout the year. Take a look at the first chapter of the book. Scan over the material, reading the first sentence in each topic or paragraph. Check out the notes and the diagrams. Look at the nouns and verbs rather than the extra words. Find the main concepts first. When reading to comprehend, read the text first then go back to take notes. Go over the section and number or list the important ideas. It may be helpful to underline or use a highlighter for important ideas. If you have questions, mark these in the test. That way you can ask your teacher or in class. It is a good idea to find a way to compare your reading, yours notes and any audiovisual or internet materials in order to better underst

Resources n Assignments Available

Teaching smart children can be as challenging as teaching slow learners. Why is this so? Before I finished explaining a concept to one P5 student in the 3rd class of the level, she had written down her next working. The way to pre-empt this group of children is to ask them questions that will guide them to problem-solving and also stress the importance of listening in learning. Do the problems as they are assigned. Math usually builds from one problem or chapter to the next. If you understand the first step, you can start to understand the next one. Be sure to pay attention in class. Not paying attention will lead to much more time spent studying. Try to get into a study group with several other students. By talking about the problems, you can find out how well you know them. Have an idea of what to expect from your teacher. Either find old tests or talk to others who have had the professor. Time yourself while doing your homework to see if you are ready for a test situation. When you get your test, look over the entire document. Get an

Lesson of the Day

I came back from tuition in the afternoon. The student whom I tutored was from PRC. He was willing to learn despite his English language level. Learning boils down to attitude. "Success is never final, failure is never fatal" (anonymous). He will be sitting for his entrance proficiency test tomorrow. Let us wish him all the best. Here is a website with free exam and CA papers. Do check the answers as I found 1 mistake in the answers. http://www.starzesthometuition.com.sg
Study Tip of the day: When teaching your child/student spelling, break up the words into syllables. For example: "warrior" becomes war-rior. "peaceful" becomes peace-ful. Explain the meaning of a word. Use pictures where applicable. When the child has understood it, memorisation becomes easier.

Tip of the Day

Tip of the Day: Schedule routine work at at time when your energy level is low. Attempt challenging problems when your mind is freshest.
